Bracelet Size Guide
How to measure your wrist, how much room to add for chain, tennis, and bangle bracelets, and the most common bracelet lengths for women and men.
Measure your wrist
Wrap a soft measuring tape, or a strip of paper you then lay against a ruler, around your wrist just below the wrist bone. Pull it snug but not tight. That is your wrist size.
Add room for fit
Bracelet length is the full length of the chain, so add room to your wrist size. About half an inch to three quarters of an inch gives a comfortable fit for most chain and tennis bracelets; about an inch gives a looser, draped look. A very snug fit can feel tight once the clasp is closed, especially with wide links.
Common lengths
Women's bracelets are most often 7 inches, with 6.5 inches for smaller wrists and 7.5 inches for a looser fit. Men's bracelets are most often 8 to 8.5 inches, and 9 inches for larger wrists or wide links. Product pages list the length for each option.
Bangles and cuffs
A solid bangle must slide over your hand, so the measurement that matters is around the widest part of your hand with the thumb tucked in toward the little finger, not your wrist. Cuffs have an opening and can be gently adjusted, but avoid bending precious metal repeatedly.
Tennis bracelets
A tennis bracelet is a line of matched stones. A fit with a little room lets it move naturally, while a fit that is too loose lets it slide over the hand. A secure box clasp with a safety latch is best for diamonds. Browse bracelets.
